Matthew Kruckenberg began studying piano at the age of 5, then added string lessons at the age of 6 under his mother, who is a professional violinist and conductor. Matthew is currently the Principal cellist of the West Valley Youth Orchestra where he earned the 2025 Leadership Award, and is Principal of the West Valley Community Orchestra. He has qualified for two years to play in the prestigious Arizona Southwest Regional High School Honor Orchestra.

Matthew is a two time commissioned composer for the West Valley Cadet Strings where he was also a past Concertmaster on violin. In addition to his string playing, Matthew is currently a church organist and choir accompanist.
