Born and raised in Romania, Filip Voia-Tipei grew up in a musical environment from an early age. At the age of 7, he was enrolled into a music school and studied violin for the next few years. While there, he won several local and national competitions. This helped establish a strong musical education and performing skills.
After moving to the United States, Filip decided to take an interest in drums and percussion instruments. He became involved in multiple local churches where he performed weekly. Later on, he was granted a scholarship to study with ASU professor and Jazz artist, Dom Moio. He has performed with Grammy Award winning jazz artist, Brian Lynch and many other local artists.
Filip has continued his studies at Mesa Community College. He continues to work consistently as a church musician and performs in a variety of ensembles for events across the valley.
